The stucco panel in Structure XIX as it is first revealed by excavation.

Stucco panel in final stages of excavation. Smaller fragments that were likely to fall out because of vibration have been bound in place with acid-free paper.

The extraction process began by first protecting and consolidating the entire surface of the panel with a layer of rice paper followed by a second layer of cheese cloth.

The backing of polyurethane foam which stabilized the panel for removal from the pier in Temple XIX must now be carefully removed.

The panel is turned over, with the backing material side down.
