Robert Wald (1999) has read this glyph as kalom-te' / kalomte'. In 1988, Linda Schele noted: "Kan-Xul now ties his own succession to his father's by naming himself as the second successor to the batab-te title and then recording the time since the long ago accession of his father. The last title in Pacal's name I nicknamed "ma cuch" years ago as a possible reading and as a name for talking about it. It now seems clear that it is a phonetic replacement for the batab-te title (Schele, 1988)."
