The Cross Group. On the left is the Temple of the Cross, which gives the group its name. The large substructure on which it sits is not a man-made pyramid, but an outcrop of El Mirador, the mountain which rises in the background. Continuing clockwise are the Temple of the Foliated Cross, which is set into the flank of El Mirador, the Temple of the Sun and Temple XIV. The view is from the west. (Photo: Merle Greene Robertson.)
