Kinichna architecture, Dzibanche. Kinichna is characterized by a grand acropolis, consisting of a giant temple-pyramid, with smaller, flanking temples. It is quite reminiscent of how Tikal's North Acropolis would have looked around AD 450. Here we see the eastern flanking temple. The roughly cut stone blocks of which this temple is composed give it a unique character (photo and caption: Stanley Guenter).
