 Merle with Alfonso Morales, lead archaeologist of the Palenque Project
| Merle continues to commute to Palenque from her other home in San Francisco, and is frequently called to other Maya sites when new relief sculptures are uncovered. In her spare time she jets to conferences and makes painting expeditions around the world. She advises leading Mayanists on their work and writes articles for publications such as the Oxford History of Art. |
